BLIZZARD!

Well, winter sure didn't wait to rear it's ugly head. It teased us with about an inch of snow on Monday and then Tuesday night it decided to really let us have it; approximately 8-10 inches depending on where you are located. Today, there is blizzard warning for all of Iowa and it is advised to stay off the roads. Therefore, I guess I get a day to be cooped up inside. The winds are so strong it just sounds awful.

So, with me being inside for the day, what better than to do some scrapping. Here is a page I created for one of the challenges at the Designs in Digital web site. There is also a speed scrap there tonight as well. Here is the link for tonight's speed scrap.
My page was created using Mrs. JayBob Designs kit "December Recycle Bin", which can be found at the shop at Designs in Digital. I used all the items in the kit: 3 papers, wire fencing, flower and string. I also used the fonts Cafe Lounge 19 and Peach Sundress.

Holiday Pages

It is so hard to believe that Thanksgiving is here and has gone already. Everyone is in full swing with their Christmas shopping now it seems. I am blessed to have found some time to scrap some of the activities that have happened over the course of this long weekend. Using a kit called Family Traditions, I created a page using random pictures from Thanksgiving on Thursday and a page using some pics from when we were outside decorating for Christmas the day after Thanksgiving.

There are 77 papers and 143 elements in the Family Traditions kit and right now through November 30th, it is on sale for 35% off at the Designs in Digital Store!

Some New Pages

Wow, what a busy month it has been. Football finished up the end of the October and had several photo shoots as well. Seems like the month didn't leave a whole lot of time for scrappin'. Here are some pages that that I did manage to get done though:

Autumn pages are created with a kit by Danielle Christiansen. You can find it HERE.

Kids to Homecoming

Wow, hard to believe it's October and really starting to cool down substantially. The kids went to homecoming yesterday and looking back at my experiences, this seemed like mini-prom to me. 10AM hair appointment, then other errands, before coming home, doing the nails and then donning the dress. Then off to another kids house to meet up with other parents to take pictures. Then, off to haul the kids out to eat. Then back to the house, then take them to the dance. Wow, I get tired just thinking about the day again. LOL. Great day though and I think they both had a great time.

Here is my darling daughter and her friend that took her to the dance. Time to get the scrapbook kits out and create some great homecoming 2009 pages for the kids.

Fall Alpha Freebie

Fall seems to be approaching must sooner than I want, but in light of that, it means the fall layouts will be fast approaching. Inspired by a beautiful paper in Forever Autumn - The Collection, I have created an alpha that would match well with the kit. Mrs. JayBob Designs graciously allowed me to create an alpha from her beautiful leaf paper and offer it as a freebie. Go pick up the kit by her and Tootlebugz and utilize this alpha. If you create a page using this alpha and their kit, please let me know and I'd love to post the page here on my blog!
Please leave some love if you download this alpha, I'd love to hear from you. You may pick up this alpha HERE. Happy Scrapping!

Project Gallery - Week 1 Page

I finished my first page for Project Gallery over at Designs in Digital last night. I was pressed for time due to the kids' activities this week, but thought it turned out well. Thanks to a friend at work who happened to have the most adorable picture of her son, so thought it would be a great picture for my page.

The challenge:
We were provided 12 papers, 2 felts, 3 metals (paper clip, staple and washer). We were to use: 8 papers, 2 felts and 3 metals. There were no other elements provided and we could create elements as long as it utilized the materials. No re-coloring? Ugh. That was hard, but doable. And no using elements from other kits.

Here is my page.

The next step will be the voting. The voting begins on Sunday, September 13th and ends on Tuesday, September 15th. If you love my page, I ask you to please go and vote over at Designs in Digital.
I will post further instructions this weekend. This was a great challenge and made one think about the design of the page and how to use all the bright, bold colors provided in the papers.
Have a great Friday everyone!

Kits on Sale!

I do CTing for Designs in Digital and have created many wonderful pages using their kits from the site. Recently, the site went down due to a hacker and we lost all of the great pages we'd uploaded. The site had to be re-started from scratch, so the kits are slowly getting re-loaded, however, some exciting news is that there is a great 30% off sale going on over in the store today through Labor Day. Click my blog title and you will be put right into the thick of the 30% off items. Go check it out, as well the great challenges that are getting started back up. I am always looking for new inspiration for my pages, so check out the gallery too and I'm sure you'll be inspired! Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend everyone.

It's Been Way too Long! (Quick Page Freebie)

Ok, I just realized that summer has flown by and as a result my blog has suffered. Let's see, baseball games, softball games, and then school shopping and then I took senior pictures for my son and then of one of his classmates. Now football season is here. Ugh!

Anyway, I am back into doing scrapping again after taking a small break. I am refreshed (not sure about rejuvenated). LOL. I have done some pages over the last month, but am offering a free Quick Page that is fall related for those upcoming fall pictures. It is pretty basic, so I am hoping you will add lots of personal touches to the page. Here is a preview.

You can get this Quick Page HERE. If you create a page with this and want to share it, please by all means let me know. I'd love to see it!

It was created using a kit by Danielle Christiansen called Natures Simplicity. If you'd like to get the entire kit, visit here site here.
Also, if you are looking for something different to do, then you need to check out the new and upcoming happenings over at Designs in Digital. You've seen Project Runway, now come and join us for Project Gallery on September 9th. Father's Day Word Art Freebie

Well, I am continuing to work on my scrapbook pages for my husband. In the process tonight, I created a word art to go on one of the pages. It is a beautiful saying by Lydia M. Child.
Here is a page I made using the word art I created. This page will be one of many in the Father's Day scrapbook for my husband.
You can download the wordart HERE. (Leave me a message if you have any problems downloading this FREEBIE. Have fun with your Father's Day layouts!

My Father's Day Scrapbook

I've been trying to finish as many pages of the scrapbook for my husband as possible. It has been hard to choose some of the earlier pictures because there are so many cute ones. I thought I would post one of my favorite pages so far and when I am all done I'll try to post a slide show of them all.

Look forward to seeing some of the great Father's Day pages on the many of the galleries I visit.

Have a Fabulous Friday!!

So, so busy!

I feel like I haven't posted in a long time. I am currently working on a small album with pages for my husband for Father's Day. In addition to that I was getting items ready for a garage sale. I will try to post some samples of the pages I've completed here soon. I am in the process of tryiing to get ready to do my son's senior pictures too. I love taking photography and while I doubt it will ever become a career, I can at least enjoy doing it and post some of my favorites along the way.

Watch for the link to my second blog that will be dedicated to my photography and photo composite creations. I am currently in the process of setting it up and no use linking to it until I get some of my favorite pictures up on the blog.

Have a happy Thursday everyone and tomorrow if FRIDAY!

Spring Is Around the Corner

Well, yesterday was the first day of spring. Thank goodness. I am hoping we have see the last of the snow. I see that there are a few of my crocus flowers blooming today. A sure sign that spring is here. Here is a spring page to help us all look forward to the upcoming season. The flower is from a bouquet that my husband gave me for our anniversary. I took a macro shot of it. It appears on the page as black and white and in color. Have a great start to spring everyone!

Pink Flower near title is from the Designs in Digital March Designing Duos kit.

Thinking of Summer!

Well, we had a short break in our cold weather this week and since we had ONE day that got over freezing, I decided it was time to get the first layer of winter grime off the vehicle. Wow! I had forgotten how pretty my vehicle looks when it isn't coated in snow, salt and dirt. LOL.

I think some summer scrappin is in order today to help warm the mind and body. Today I have used a kit by Bratty Sisters Designs. The kit is Indian Summer and can be found at the Store on the Designs in Digital Website.

This picture was taken in 2004 when the neighborhood kids were in the neighbor's pool. I used a paper shaper from digiscrapdepot to create the waves in the paper and used several blending effects to create the flowers and the second set of waves.

We've Survived Record Breaking Temps

Well, this week was one to remember...I guess add it to the growing list of records over the past year. Last winter, 'almost' record breaking snowfall total; last spring, record breaking flood crest on the Cedar River with record flooding that was just unbelievable to see; this winter, record breaking temps -24 degrees below zero. It was so nice to see it at 4 degrees above zero yesterday. Not sure what it is today, but the winds cannot be helping what is feels like outside right now. We are supposed to get into the twenties and maybe thirties this next week. It will be like a heat wave, almost a 40-50 degree swing in temperatures!
Anyway, with thoughts of warm weather in my head, I created another page with Dorothy's Creations Spiced Leather kit. I used this page for last year's Father's Day picture of Bill and the kids. Everything is so green and pretty in the picture. It can only bring warmth to ones self. All the papers and elements are original to the kit, however, I should note that the mats under the picture I did create, but used colors included in the plaid section of the page.

Making today bright

Such a ominous day with the snow falling and then the reports that wind will start tonight and could reach gusts of 40 mph. Definitely will make for dangerous travels if anyone dares to venture out. I had some fun today after work and put together some fun pages with two new kits that I had been working with this month.

The first page I used a favorite picture of my hubby and me. I used the kit Winter Love that was a Designing Duo kit put together by Tink's Trinkets and Wimpychompers over at Designs in Digital. You can find the kit at the store over there.

The other kit was working with today was a new kit by Tiger Lily's Digis. She has created a great kit I <3u> over at Designs in Digital.

Darling daughter was being silly last Valentine's Day when she received these large chocolate lips. Thought these pages would help brighten the day with all the potential winter weather coming our way.

Hope you all had a great Monday!

It's Beautiful Outside

I enjoyed my drive into town today to get groceries. The snow we received on Friday has placed itself so beautifully on the evergreen trees in many yards along the way. I wish I would have brought my camera along for the drive and got some pictures. I'm sure there will be more opportunities though, as we are to get another 1-4 inches of snow tomorrow now too. It was nice out though with temps in the low 20s and very little wind. Tomorrow may be another story though with winds anticipated to pick up in the afternoon increasing the wind chill factor despite the temps are supposed to be in the 20s again. I guess with those increased winds, that explains why they have issued a blizzard warning for tomorrow. I was going to take daughter out for some pretty winter pics, but I have a feeling that those plans may have to wait.

More Snow

Well, we got hit with more snow last night again. It had been a little while since we've had this much at one time. At least it is a fluffier snow, but it was interesting driving last night to pick up my daughter from the movies. It sure would have been nice to be able to see the road. It was just all snow every where and was still coming down.
Today has been a good creative day though. I have been working on some of my pages using some kits over at Designs in Digital. One of my favorite ones (which is probably because it takes my to a warm place and fond memories) is the page I created using a kit from Dorothy's Creations called Spiced Leather. It can be found over at the Designs in Digital Store.

Working on Scrapbooks

Another icy morning here in Iowa. I guess that's what we get for wishing for a warmer winter....then we get ice instead of snow. Seems to be a common occurance this winter unfortunately. We will be having one last holiday gathering, then kids will be back to school tomorrow. The routine will be back finally...the holidays being on Thursdays this year really messed up my thinking of what day it was it seemed.

This morning I finally got a chance to work on some scrapbook pages and decided to work on some pages for daughter's soccer scrapbook. I downloaded a great soccer kit from Danielle Christiansen that can be found at http://www.danicdigiscraps.ecrater.com/ And here are the pages that I created. Thanks Danielle for the great kit!
