Winter Wishes

It doesn't seem possible that it has been eleven days since I have last posted. It has been a very busy eleven days. I have been busy at my new job and I find it is more taxing on the brain as you get older to start a new job, but it is invigorating and I am really excited about the work I do. But as a result, I am having to find a new balance for my hobbies, digital scrapping included. Granted the holidays have thrown off the schedule a little. I am excited about some of the holiday pictures that I took yesterday and couldn't wait to use a great picture of a cardinal I took. I thought the stark contrast of red against a blue themed kit would be great.
I created this page using Danielle Christiansen's Winter Wishes kit. The kit provided such a wonderful canvas to promote this beautiful red cardinal that was flying around in the trees outside my parents' living room window. He seems to be looking right at me...waiting for his picture to be taken.
Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Christmas and will look forward to the holiday pages that so many with scrap.

Trying to Stay Warm

Hard to believe Monday has rolled around already. I got my Christmas cards back (for the second time) today. I had ordered my cards and they came in the mail stuck together obviously they had gotten wet and then dried on their trip to my mailbox. UGH! Well at least they are here and now I can work on getting them mailed out. At least they arrived in good condition this time and the second set were free!
The last few days I have been able to put together a few pages using some various kits. One page was my second layout for Winter Flannel by Tiger Lily's Designs and Gone Scrappin' Designs over at Designs in Digital. If you haven't check it out over there, they have some great challenges and great people!

The interwoven snowflake papers are not in the kit, as shown, but are available individually. I took the two papers and wove them together.

The next page I created was by Danielle Christiansen using her Winter Fun kit. I had to use the father/daughter picture again. Hope you'll check out her store.

I also finished a page created by Lost Gurlz 'Ventures who is a designer over at Designs in Digital as well. She has a great kit called Slumber Party with some great elements and papers. It is available at the Designs in Digital store.
Hope everyone has a great evening and stay warm if you're here in the midwest!

Winter Flannel

Well, what a busy day. I started a part-time job today for a large funeral home in the area and will be a part of the support staff to the funeral directors. I will be a member of the team that creates the folders for the services, creating memorial DVDs and other items that pay tribute to loved ones that have passed on. I look forward to utilizing my skills to help others during their time of grieving. It will be a job that comes with gratification of helping others.
In the meantime...
I have added another to my list of those that I CT for. I have joined the creative team over at Designs in Digital. One of the kits that is a collaboration kit this month is called Winter Flannel. It was created by Gone Scrappin' Designs and Tiger Lily's Designs. Here is a layout I created using the kit. I have it posted in many of my online galleries.

Will only post a short post for this evening. Must cook dinner. Have a good evening.

Another Freebie

Yesterday was so hectic, as the kids didn't have school due to the icy road conditions. Earlier in the day at least I had a chance to finish some snowman word art. I created a snowman using the words from Frosty the Snowman. It was great fun to do and I knew I had the perfect pictures to use for a layout.
If you would like to pick up the snowman word art, you can pick it up HERE.
You will need to add your own hat to the snowman though.

Christmas Freebies

We received our first two Christmas cards yesterday and I was inspired to create a wonderful Christmas tree using the words "We Wish you a Merry Christmas!" I have created one in white and one in red. If there is another color you would like, please let me know and I would be happy to make it available.

You can download the tree with white wording HERE.

You can download the tree with red wording HERE.

Please leave some love if you download either of these. I would love to see what you create with this tree, so feel free to drop me a message to let me know where I can find your page, as I would love to post some other samples.

Here is a sample of a page I created using my tree and pictures of my nephews at Christmas two years ago. I love how my one nephew's present is as big as he is. Sooo cute!

Credits for the background and remaining elements are from CuddleBeez Scraps kit Christmas Blessings.

Oh, the weather outside is....

frightful, but the inside the scrappin' is delightful! It has begun to freezing rain here tonight and I sit here hoping son will return home from work this evening safe and sound. I must go out and put some sand down at the top of the driveway, or he might not make it up the incline as DH has just said he about slid into the neighbors yard. EEEK! I don't like freezing rain. But to cheer me up a little, I will post a page I completed yesterday with a beautiful Christmas picture of my DD in 2003. Every year I would take pictures of the kids in their Christmas best. Oh the memories. Have a good evening!

It's Snowing Again

Well, the snow is flying again today. Luckily it doesn't look like a whole lot right now, but enough to cover the sidewalk again anyway. Today is a short post, but wanted to at least post some pages I did with a Retro kit of Danielle Christiansen's. I had some fun with this and dug up some old Halloween pics to match the theme. Have a good rest of the weekend.

It's Friday!

What a busy day yesterday was! We switched out our Dish Network system for a DirecTv system. We'd had Dish for over 5 years and frankly the equipment was getting old and our DVR receiver had crashed at least once and we had lost everything we had recorded. It was time for new equipment and a better price for at least the next year! Of course, it wasn't as simple as swapping out the satellites and then just swapping receivers, with updates come new things to do to install the receivers. Wish they would have at least sent out a "what to expect" list, then we could have had some or our prep work done before they arrived, but hey, oh well, it's done and things are working great!

I have a couple of pages from Wednesday that I'd like to post for you all. One is created for a Marriage Is Challenge on Scrapbook Flair. I had a lot of fun with this one.

I also finished a second page working with Danielle Christiansen's Lemonade & Pink Lemonade Stand kit. I decided to work with some birthday pictures back when dd turned eleven. It was a pretty page with the pink and yellow. Made the day just a little brighter when it's cold outside. LOL.
You can pick up this kit at Danielle's site: http://www.danicdigiscraps.ecrater.com/.

Hope everyone has a great day. I see the Worldwide Christmas Scrapbooking Freebies are ready on their blog, so I am off to see what great Christmas and winter kits have been created by their hard working designers.

New Kits to Use!!

I received an e-mail last night from Danielle saying that she had two new kits for her creative team: Lemonade & Pink Lemonade kit and a Retro kit. They have great colors and look forward to using them to create new pages! I already created one this morning as it is cloudy and starting to snow again today. Another 1-4 inches is possible. So what better way to brighten the day then to think about lemonade and summertime activities. I found this great picture of when my daughter and her cousins had crawled into a toy box and it was absolutely perfect to modify to make it look as though they were at a lemonade stand with their hands over the front of the stand.
I will mess around with the kits some more today and see what creative juices start going. Have a great day!!!

Sorry, It's Been Awhile

Well, I guess the weekend flew by and with so much to do, I guess the blog didn't get its needed attention. We received our first snowfall of the winter on Sunday/Monday. Only about an inch or two, but enough to stick around and not leave. A reminder that winter has arrived in Iowa.

I have not scrapped much in the last few days as I began to create the annual "Year in Review" video from all my pictures and video clips from the year. I have to make two, so the first one has been completed. Takes time to determine songs, pictures, video, etc. It has been a successful venture for Disc #1, so I will take a break and catch up on my scrappin' stuff. Hope your week has started out well.

The Day After

Well, I took a day off from the blog to spend with family on Thanksgiving. Of course the meal was wonderul with ham, turkey, potatoes, stuffing and all the fixings. I am not a fan of getting up early for the "Black Friday" deals, so I slept in and and enjoyed getting up when I felt like it. I think I will work on a Thanksgiving Day themed page today using some of the pictures that I took yesterday. It's a bright and sunny day today, although chilly and look forward to some time with my hubby today! Have a Fantastic Friday!
I created this page using a kit called Tom Tukey Collection by Raspberry Road Designs. I loved the colors and elements and it make for a perfect memory page of Thanksgiving Day!

The Creative Juices

Boy, I really had a productive day yesterday. I think I did four or five pages of scrappin'. I ended last night working on a page that combined all the 1st days of school for daughter through her elementary years. I, of course, will have to now do one for son and probably pages showing their middle school years as well. They grow up way too fast.

This morning I worked on a page that highlighted a favorite picture of mine and used Danielle Christiansen's Little Princess kit again to feature the picture. Always loved her expression and smile in this picture.
I am sure that everyone is starting to prepare for tomorrow's upcoming Thanksgiving Day. Hopefully everyone has taken their turkey out to thaw and will have fun and blessed time with family and friends.

It's Princess Day

Today is a bright sunny day here in Iowa. Although I know if I step outside, I will get hit with a wall of cold air. Brrrrr. I really don't care for this time of year; that transition between fall and winter. I keep seeing many scrapbook pages with kids outside in the first snow of the season. I guess if I was a kid, I'd be disappointed that there hasn't been any snow, but honestly I think I am just fine with no snow right now, especially after how hard we were hit last winter. It seemed that winter went on for 6-months. Ugh!
There are many beautiful winter and Christmas kits I would like to try, but for now I think I am content with scrappin' with some pretty colors and traveling down memory lane again. Today, I am working with older pictures (okay 13 years old) of daughter. I had scrapped pics of son when he was little, so using Little Princess kit by Danielle Christiansen, it was time to dig out the little girl pictures.
I hope to find a great Turkey Day kit so I can scrap some memories of the upcoming Thanksgiving on Thursday. Have a great day!

New Wordart for You!

I was listening to music the other day while doing some scrappin' and I heard the words "The World Goes Away When You Kiss Me". The music moved onto the next song, but the words stuck, so I just had to go back and see who sang the song. The lyrics came from was a song by Shania Twain. The words really took hold of me and it seemed only right to put them into my own version of word art. I am making the wordart available to you as a freebie, just please be sure to leave a little love. You can download this wordart HERE.

I have also posted an example of how I used this wordart. I re-colored the black lettering white in my page to show up better, but other than that there were no other modifications made. Credits for my page are: my photos from our trip to St. Maarten, my wordart, background texture comes from the kit Pistache Glacee by Melancolie.

Sunday, Sunday

We had an awesome time last night at the in-laws with the pizza and football game. Mom-in-law dug out some old pictures of the kids and family and we had a chance to go through them and any pictures we didn't think we had of the kids we took home. More pictures for scrappin'! Today we're going to my parents for dinner. Our busy summer didn't really allow for visiting so with fall sports done for the season, what a perfect time to visit. Despite we'll be traveling today, I have managed to find some time to put together a couple of pages this morning from Danielle Christiansen's Little Man kit. Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

Busy, Busy Day

Today will be a busy day today. I have a good friend from high school whose father passed away earlier this week, so I will be attending his funeral today. I will be happy to see her, but it's so sad to do it under these circumstances. Then later tonight it will be pizza and college football at the in-laws. That will be a lot of fun.

Today I will post a couple of pages that I created using Danielle Christiansen's All Boy kit. I had to dig up some old pictures of the son from when he was little, but who doesn't like to reminisce?

This page I had a lot of fun with because son was sitting down. I thought what better way to really make him "pop" out was to make him pop out of the frame. So I took one of the frames and modified it to lay a little flatter so I could work my magic. I really liked how it turned out!

This page I took several of Danielle's backgrounds that she had in the All Boy kit and put them together on the page and used ric rac she had in the kit to give a nice finished look. I did modify the ric rac slightly by adding a grain texture to it. I found some great pictures of son playing with various sport equipment, so thought a nice collage of those pictures would work well on this page. It was a lot of fun to create and gets the pictures out of tubs onto a page! Hope everyone has a great Saturday.

My First Blog Post

It's Friday! Well, I have finally decided to create a blog for all the scrapping that I do. What a fun way to share some more insight to what I create and possibly share a few QPs that might pop into my brain.

Earlier this week I joined Danielle Christiansen's Creative Team and had the chance to use her new kit Autumn Berry. It is a beautiful kit with many rich colors. The first page I created used some older pics of my daughter, but they were fall pics regardless, so what better kit to use them with then Danielle's.

The second page I create was a fun one for me. There were so many good backgrounds in the kit, that I had a hard time picking just one or two, so I thought a patchwork type background would be fun to do. I hadn't really done one this elaborate before, but I thought it turned out pretty good. All the stitching I did was mine, so that took some time to complete, but all in all the look was what I would hoped it would be.
